Stacy with Caesar

Anxious dog barking too much

“(We worked with) Alex to help Caesar with anxiety and excessive barking. I cannot say enough good things about Alex and his methods. He’s extremely knowledgeable, helpful and will treat your dog as if it’s his own. We are seeing wonderful improvement in our pups overall health and demeanor. Jayme with Wilee

Dog with anxiety after working with dog trainer.

“If you need help with your dog, CALL ALEX!

To set the scene, my husband and I are not novice pet owners. When we took on a rescue we thought it would go about the same as the others… Abandoned in the woods as a puppy everything scared him and the reaction was always “aggressive”. Barking at every sound, going wild for a knock at the door… It was very difficult to get him to calm down after being triggered too. Fast forward, we were about to add a baby to our family and decided it was time to get help.

Do not misunderstand, it took A LOT of intensive work. Our boy is a special case and needed customized corrections. We are still working on it to this day but there is marked improvement.

I would absolutely recommend Alex. He helped when others couldn’t and set realistic expectations along the way. Best of all, our boy is happier too!

In the words of my husband, ‘I would hire that guy again’.”

How We Get Results

We focus on three primary pillars to heal your dog’s anxiety.

They are as follows:

Owner Education

After working with many anxious dogs I’ve learned this very crucial thing- without teaching the human behind the leash, lasting change is impossible. My #1 priority is to help you learn what you need to create a lasting effect. And I’ve designed my services to work around a variety of lifestyles- you’re never to busy to solve your dog’s anxiety.

Foundational Calm

Foundational calm is all about helping your dog to genuinely, truly relax. It’s about teaching your dog how to instinctively relax when anxious, and learn appropriate coping mechanisms for when they are too overwhelmed. We do this through tried and true techniques that will put your dog at ease, not just in the face of anxiety but in life in general.

Develop Courage

This is my favorite part. To truly let go of anxiety, we want to help your dog be naturally curious of the world around them- and to seek out fun and interaction! Every dog is different, and we aim to bring out each dog’s best traits!

We offer multiple programs and training options to make sure you get a training solution that works for you and your dog specifically. Below are just a few of the ways we work with our clients!

During your free consultation I will recommend the training options that best suit your needs- there’s something for every owner and dog.

Fearless Foundations- Comprehensive Program

This is our most comprehensive option, suitable for many anxious dogs. This option is designed to walk you through my entire unique rehabilitation process and create lasting, thorough results. This program has it all. It is a six month program (to ensure thorough results) and provides you with the following:

  • Weekly video lessons outlining the process and techniques you need (You keep them forever!)

  • A step-by-step process for anxiety rehabilitation

  • Monthly 60 minute private Zoom training sessions with me to ensure a personalized approach

  • Text access to me for questions

  • Video sharing with me so I can review and advise on behaviors and techniques that are unique to your situation

Specialized Anxiety Programs

If your dog struggles with one primary anxiety (i.e. separation anxiety, car anxiety, vet anxiety, noise anxiety, etc.) then one of my specialized programs is likely a great option! These follow the same structure as the Fearless Foundations - Comprehensive program, but are typically only 2 months long and only contain the video lessons focused on healing one specific anxiety. These programs generally contain the following:

  • A series of video lessons walking you through the process and techniques of healing your dogs particular anxiety

  • 3 Thirty minute private Zoom training sessions with me to ensure a personalized approach

  • Text access to me for questions and updates

  • Video sharing with me so I can review and advise on behaviors and techniques that are unique to your situation

Private Zoom Training Sessions

If your dogs situation doesn’t fit into any of my existing programs, you might choose to do private zoom training sessions with me. These are generally a la carte so you don’t have to pay for any training sessions you don’t need. This option provides you with:

  • 30 or 60 minute private training sessions, typically conducted over Zoom

  • Text access to discuss the behaviors discussed in the Zoom training session

  • Video sharing with me to review the behaviors discussed in the Zoom training session

Is online training effective?

I get this question a lot!

The answer is yes, and there are a few reasons for that. Let me explain-

You see, I’ve done pretty much every training format there is - board and train, private in home training, group training, virtual training, you name it.

Virtual training, and in particular my ‘blended learning’ programs - which means a combo of private training directly with me as well as learning through video lessons - has come out on top as the best overall option, in particular for working with dogs with anxiety.

One reason for this is that in a board and train for example (which most trainers will recommend for many anxious dogs), your dog will likely make a lot of progress, but will also very likely lose much or all of that progress after returning home. The reason for this is that when you are not the one to create the results, you’ll have a harder time maintaining the results. My virtual training formats eliminate this issue, as I will be working through you to rehabilitate your dog, and so you’ll be learning my methods every step of the way.

Virtual training also allows me to organize much of the information you need in an easy to digest and structured way, which also allows you to revisit it whenever and however often you need.

Plus, you likely won’t have a trainer in your area that knows dog anxiety as well as I do. Virtual training allows you to work with the trainer with the specialized knowledge that your dog needs.

Those are just a few of the many reasons I have found virtual training to be an extremely effective approach!

Believe me, as a trainer I was skeptical of virtual training at first. But I can honestly say that I have been able to achieve better, longer lasting results for anxious dogs through virtual training than by any other training format. And for me, that’s a win.

Dog Trainer Alex with Wife, Kelly, And their dog Odin

About Us

A little about myself- when I was a teenager, I attempted to train our very unruly family dog, a young chocolate lab named Whiskey. It didn’t work. Like, at all. Luckily, I tend to be very stubborn, and I was determined to figure it out!

Thus began a very long journey of learning, comparing methods, and lots of practice. After several years of conducting private in-home dog training sessions, I began to see that certain behaviors were very difficult to help owners solve in the limited amount of time I had with them in our sessions. I wanted a more comprehensive way to help people and their dogs. That’s when I discovered blended learning.

I chose to begin specializing in excessive barking caused by anxiety. This was one of the more invasive and difficult issues for many of my clients. We also found that many positive side effects occurred when we focused on solving the barking, including a major decrease in overall anxiety.

I love my dog training journey, and I look forward to helping you in yours. It will help your dog, but it can change your life as well.

We use real world, effective methods that promote confidence and relaxation for anxious dogs, and we care deeply about your success with your dog.

Kelly and I live in New Hampshire with two dogs, Odin and Mabel, and a plethora of other animals including fish, birds, and reptiles. Kelly is currently working as a BT with young children with autism.
